A 67 year-old man in Florida tried to kill himself by dousing himself with gasoline and setting fire on himself. The result was having his skin charred all over and not death. The pain must have been so bad that he even screamed for neighbors to call 911.

A 41 year-old man in Massachusetts tried to kill himself by setting the bedroom on fire, along with his girlfriend and her son. Fortunately, the girlfriend managed to escape with her son. Unfortunately, the man survived with burns over 85 percent of his body, which will make the rest of his life rather painful. The host of criminal charges leveled against him won't help matters.

Attempted car stabbing

A 27 year-old man in Arizona attempted suicide by affixing a sword to the steering wheel to a car and ramming the car into a wall. Instead of the sword fatally skewering him, however, the airbags deployed and bent the sword out of shape. The man only ended up getting non-fatal injuries, and his car just ended up in a swimming pool.

A 25 year-old man in California jumped off the Santa Ana Bridge in an apparent attempt to kill himself. Hitting water after dropping from a great height is not much different from hitting concrete, but the result was that the man only managed to break both of his legs.

A man in Texas tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself with a knife and then jumping off an overpass. However, all he accomplished was to hold up a whole lot of traffic on a highway, with himself soon taken to a nearby hospital.

Disturbing the peace

A 21 year-old man in Idaho tried to commit suicide either by shooting himself with a shotgun or by having the police shoot him. However, by the time a SWAT team arrived he had yet to shoot himself, and the SWAT team used restraint and used tear gas on him instead of shooting him. The man ended up being arrested for his suicide attempt, charged with disturbing the peace.

Jupming from an overpass

A 36 year-old woman jumped into a creek from an overpass, and she didn't even indicate where she was going to jump in her suicide note. Her suicide attempt didn't work out, though, having been found and taken to a hospital after breaking multiple bones and possibly other injuries.

When a 24 year old woman in Wisconsin tried to kill herself by cutting her throat in the presence of police officers, she got hit by a beanbag round to her arm, which forced her knife momentarily away from her neck and must have hurt. She didn't give up, though, so another police officer tasered her, which must have hurt a whole lot more.

A prisoner in Italy tried to kill himself by tearing up pillowcases and crafting them into a noose. However, prison guards stopped him before he could hang himself, and he ended up having to pay a fine for damaging the pillowcases.

Attempting suicide at an airport

A passenger at Ireland's Dublin Airport tried to kill himself by slashing his wrists and hiding near a restaurant. However, he was soon found and stabilized, with no expected long-lasting effects even after losing a great deal of blood. This follows a previous suicide attempt at the airport almost exactly a year ago, where a young man jumped off a wall at the departures area. In his case, he ended up paralyzed below the neck.

A 65 year-old man in France tried to kill himself on Christmas Eve by hanging, stabbing, and setting fire, but all of his suicide attempts failed. When he tried to hang himself, the rope broke. Stabbing himself with a knife did not manage to kill him either. And setting his house on fire only managed to get about 30 firefighters to extinguish the fire, not take his life. He was left alive with his house half burnt down.

A 22 year-old man in California drove his car off a bridge in a suicide attempt. Apparently having taken pills when he drove into the bay, he neither drowned nor overdosed after 22 firefighters extracted the man from the waist-deep waters. He just ended up ruining a perfectly fine vehicle.

An 18 year-old woman in Calcutta, India jumped on the rails just as a train was arriving. However, she ended up in a gap between the rails and mostly made it through intact, except for her hands that were crushed by the incoming train. Now she will have to live without hands.

He deliberately filled a room with natural gas and lit a lighter, which blew off the side of his house. This being the third attempt at suicide in the same day, he may have hoped it would work this time. However, it didn't. But it did severely damage his house, caused burn injuries that are not life-threatening but still extremely painful with skin falling off, and he might even be criminally charged.

A 30-year old man in Utah tried to kill himself by jumping in front of a car entering an interstate highway. It didn't work, and he ended up in the hospital with a whole lot of injuries.
